Bio Wall Project Schedule
Bombay Sapphire Inspired pop-up store curated by Surface Magazine
The Pop-up Store Concept:
This project serves as the prototype for the first Sapphire Inspired pop-up store curated by Surface. Bombay Sapphire has been a long time sponsor of (and inspiration for) forward design (particularly through their famed commissioned ‘martini glass’ adverting campaigns). Surface conceived this pop-up store project with Bombay as a way to move Bombay’s martini glass design ethos into a larger lifestyle design concept. For the first (of what hopes to be an annual initiative), Surface and Sapphire chose a particular room of the home as the centerpiece to commission new/innovative designs inspired by Bombay Sapphire. This year is focused on the “SALON” (typically a room for recreation, entertaining, sophisticated consumption, a space where intellectuals meet).
The Mood/Aesthetic/Inspiration:
Chic, luxurious and innovative. Please see ATTACHMENT “MOOD BOARD” . All objects in the store are inspired by Bombay Sapphire (whether it be inspired by the shape of the bottle, the color of the glass, the crystalline shape of sapphires or the 10 distinctive botanicals which make up the gin). You will receive an information brief (via email) on the brand to help your brainstorming process. As there are approximately 15 designers involved (all names to released in approx two weeks) and because we are curating a ‘Salon’, we will be assigning you one to two specific objects to design within the parlor.

The Pop-up Store Presentation:
The Pop-Up store will be presented as a temporary exhibit (please see ROUGH exhibit ATTACHMENT #2) during fashion week in New York (space to be announced). In a large space we will stage a “parlor” where the objects will be shown/sold for approximately 5 days (open normal retail business hours). In the evening the space will be open for cocktail receptions and press viewings.
Public Relations/ Press/ Sales:
Prototypes will belong to Sapphire, but the design rights belong to you. The objects(s) will be ‘limited editions’ for sale at the store, through a website and through Surface magazine. Price points and quantity of the object(s) will be discussed/agreed with you throughout the design phase. Your object will be credited to you in the exhibit, in Surface magazine, and throughout all press and sales outreach. Profit from sales of the object will be split between you and Surface (the magazine portion goes to maintaining the program and the production costs of the project).
