The Misted Teahouse

WHERE: BRUT Theatre, Vienna, Austria
WHEN: 4 December, 2010
CLIENT: Toxic Dreams Theatre Company

The installation and set design was commissioned by experimental Viennese theatre group Toxic Dreams for the Toxic Davos performance. Our contribution was called Misted Teahouse with an exhibition of a Vege-tecture photo series.

Our collaboration explored  the future of food and consumption and how our cities need to metabolise and adapt to bring vegetation and food production back to the heart of the urban centre.
The essence of plants was misted into a dry and dark environment providing nutrients for both plants and people. The installation was based on the highly controlled method of growing plants in a fog of nutrients called Aeroponics, originally developed by scientists for NASA.

Toxic Davos

The event took place on Dec 4, 2 – 10 pm in brut Künstlerhaus, Vienna. A sort of performance/symposium, it was a mix of discussions, small lecture performances, expert’s views, video screenings and an open “town hall” conversation between artists and audience members. The idea was not only to talk politics but to find a process that in political terms turn the talk into the creation of political art.
